Over the December January period we have had guests from all over the world - not necessarily from our key markets.
If you had said to me we would get guests who have been living and working in Angola I would have said you have got to be dreaming but we had americans who work in that African state.
We recently had guests originally from Iraq, plus some from Russia and Peru - countries along with Angola we can now tick off the list of world visitors to visit Waihi Beach
Very interesting folk too from many d.ifferent walks of life - a former top athletics sprint coach from Switzerland and a top horse trainer originally from Matamata now living in Australia plus a retired ( younger than 50) farmer who spent his spare time fishing and flying his plane.
The former athletics coach said he knew the female Bulgarian shot putter,who tested positive for drugs at the recent London Olympics, was a cheat from the minute she walked into the stadium and had her first throw - she did not look too feminine was his comment - enough said!
A favourite comment from most guests was how amazing the beach here is and how lucky we are to live here - don't we know it!
